Hast thou not known? Hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is he weary? There is no searching of his understanding.

Isaiah 40:28

This subject directs our attention to the beautiful verse in Isaiah, where God poses what we might consider a rhetorical question to us all: Have you, brothers and sisters, ever felt so despaired as to wonder if God has momentarily lost focus or slept? Perhaps Jehovah has, for a second, overlooked us, or in the preoccupation of his mind with the world’s affairs, He has relegated our miniature needs to the back of His eternal mind. The comfort for us is in the book of Isaiah, chapter 40, verse 28 – a reminder of the infallibility of God.

Hast thou not known? What? Have you not realized? With the entirety of nature before you and the infinite expanse of the heavens above you, do you still not recognize God? The grandeur of creation, from the majestic waving of leaves to the joyful leaps of dolphins, all proclaim the greatness of their Maker. Yet, do you, endowed with the Spirit of the Creator, fail to find his hand in the fabric of your past? Do you not perceive His unwavering guidance along your path? Hast thou not known? Must it be reiterated that Jehovah reigns, that your Creator never slumbers?

God drew you to Himself by His Spirit, wooing and saving you through the irresistible grace of the Cross. He inscribed Himself upon your heart, claiming you as His own for eternity. And yet, do you still claim not to know Him? He lifted, yet you feign ignorance. He rescued you from shame and the depths of despair, yet in moments of trial, you speak and act as though you are devoid of an omnipotent God. Moreover, my friend, God Himself walked the earth, experiencing the same trials and emotions as you. Do you not comprehend all this?

Hast thou not heard that the everlasting God, the LORD? What greatness! Even if you have not comprehended, surely you have heard from the pulpit or the sacred scriptures of the existence of the everlasting God, the LORD. He is the Alpha and Omega, the first and the last, which was, which is, and which is to come. He is indescribable, eternal, beholding our end before our beginning. He is the LORD, our King, whose awe-inspiring deeds resonate through history, from the trembling mountains of Sinai to the waters of Noah, from the fire upon Sodom to the miracles while He walked on Earth and the outpouring at Azusa. His wonders abound, singing to us in loud hosannas. His beauty is not concealed; they shine with perpetual splendor. If you have not heard, let your ears be opened today. There is a God named Jehovah—glorious in holiness, fearful in praises, and doing wonders.

The Creator of the ends of the Earth fainteth not; neither is he weary? Unlike mortal beings whose labors eventually lead to fatigue and demise, God remains unfaltering. Though He has wrought magnificent works and continues to do so, He never tires. His power and strength remain undiminished; He is eternal, with His attributes unchanging. He gives without depletion and blesses without impoverishment. He is infinite and infallible. If you seek something to hold onto, let it be His unwavering hand.

There is no searching of His understanding. This concluding portion of the verse encapsulates the essence of the entire passage. Despite the exaltation of God’s greatness, one may still encounter rough patches along life’s journey. God reminds us today to place our trust in Him. His wisdom is beyond comprehension, and if we entrust our lives to Him, the infallible God will lift us once more, granting us stability and strength. He will make your feet like hinds’ feet and plant your feet on solid ground.

God bless you.
